Mirror Series

The Mirror Series explores the relationship between space, object, and viewer through the deliberate use of cut-outs. Going beyond pure reflection, the two mirrors engage with themes of identity, perception, and transparency.

The first mirror, with a large cut-out at head height, disrupts self-reflection—an unexpected break from a mirror’s function. This absence provokes an immediate response, prompting a reconsideration of identity and self-image. While some see humor in the missing reflection, the void becomes a metaphor for the interaction between object and observer, raising questions about how much of ourselves we truly perceive.

The second mirror features a perforated surface that interacts with both space and viewer. The pattern of holes creates a shifting transparency, intensified by the reflective stainless steel. Depending on proximity, the reflection sharpens or distorts, revealing or obscuring the space behind. This dynamic interplay transforms the mirror into a medium that negotiates perception and spatial relationships.

Both mirrors challenge habitual interactions with objects, opening new perspectives on the spaces they inhabit and the people who engage with them. The design embraces clarity and reduction while exploring the deeper connections between objects, users, and their surroundings.
